HARMONISE at IAEA International Conference in Vienna, AT
The HARMONISE efforts to analyze the perspective of a technology neutral regulation delineating a harmonized view on commonly accepted high-level principles used to compensate potential deficiencies in the strategies applied for fulfilling fundamental safety functions and design requirements were presented at the “International Conference on Enhancing Nuclear Safety and Security Through Technical and Scientific Support Organizations (TSOs): Challenges and Opportunities in a Rapidly Changing World” held in Vienna, Austria on 2 through 6 December 2024. The work is supplemented with HARMONISE recommendations and considerations while putting emphasis on the need for research and development activities on the subject.
To this end, Dr M. Uršič presented on 3 December 2024 at Session 2: “Emerging Technical and Scientific Challenges” a paper entitled “Potential for a technology neutral regulation of emerging nuclear technologies” by M. Uršič, W. Klein-Hessling, A. Ikonomopoulos, L. Cizelj, E. Urbonavičius.
